Quarantine, 96” x 18” x 18”, shredded paper, plastic bags, paint, tape, painted wood and steel
During the course of a year, while prepping for the modus operandi exhibit, Mele shredded twenty years of accumulated art, exhibition notes, written communications and personal documents, including financial and health documents, the kind of paperwork that can be used to define one’s life and status. Quarantine is the culmination of separating out that past and releasing it to the world in a form of safe containment.
